The global tax system is toxic and driving inequality – it helps the rich get richer by letting some companies legally avoid paying tax while the poor pay the price through higher tax bills and inadequate public services.

To tackle this, we need to lift the lid on tax dodging by making companies publish where they make profits and pay tax. A change in the law would stop firms artificially moving profits to tax havens or using loopholes and secret deals to avoid paying their fair share. It would allow governments in developing countries and the public to see what’s really going on.

In 2015, the Irish Government announced it would share information about what tax companies pay with the tax authorities of some other states. But to really lift the lid on tax dodging, the Government needs to go further and make these details fully public and available to developing countries which bear the brunt of tax dodging. This is called public country-by-country reporting.

Sign our petition to call on Michael Noonan, Minister for Finance, to require firms to publicly say where they make profits and pay tax as a vital step to make tax fair.

Make Tax Fair

Minister Noonan,

I shouldn’t be paying the price when big firms dodge tax and neither should the poorest. I call on you to Make Tax Fair and lift the lid on tax dodging by introducing public country by country reporting as an urgent priority.
